Was: I've been stewing on this for a long time...
And so I'm giving it a go.
I've been stewing on a blog that focuses on how we live out the liturgical year in our home, how we find the rhythm of the Church and work our days around it. This idea came from some old friends, and some new ones. We often have guests here; sometimes, I think people just want to see what this family looks like outside of a church pew, so they hint until they are invited. That's ok. We like company. We like to say we have an "open-door policy," which can be exhausting sometimes, but it's never boring here!
My older children are becoming old enough to realize just how enriching this can be - we have several priests who visit regularly, several families who come quite often, and several children who like to say they are my "other" children. Not all of these visitors are Catholic, and their visit here leaves no doubt that we ARE. Some of them have far from ideal family situations - from both a sociological and moral perspective - and they like to be in the midst of our happy chaos. It's often a free opportunity to "explain the hope that is in us."
The Ministry of the Open Door.
Several of them have suggested that I write down some of these things. I laugh that the VonTrapps have already cornered that market, but I guess there is room for more ideas. So. I'll try it for a while.
I am thinking I will give this a trial run until Easter, and then reassess whether this is really where the Lord wants me to invest my energies.
