Well, I haven't fallen off the planet. I'm just busier than I ever thought I'd be and it hasn't seemed like the kind of thing that blog readers want to hear about. So I haven't written it.
But as many have kindly emailed, promised prayers, and wondered if there is anything wrong, I should at least update a little -
I was asked by our good pastor if I would accept the recently vacated position of DRE. I graciously declined. Twice. Then he asked again, put up his hand and said, "Kathryn, before you say no, think about this. You know you're going to continue to do what you've been doing. Why don't you take the position and keep all this going?" Well, as I had spent most of the summer working to put together our new Faith Formation program and I was certainly going to continue to see it through to implementation, he seemed to have a point. So I said, "Ok."
I had no idea what I was getting into.
Add to that a 4 day trip to the Mayo Clinic with my mother that turned into 12 days (who's counting?), the beginning of a new homeschool year, being the President of our Discalced Carmel Secular Order Community, and a member of our Pastoral Council... Well, you get the picture.
At our first weekly Faith Formation Night (we're calling it "Wednesday Night Out" because I don't have to cook that night ;-) someone thanked me for putting together something like this for the parish and then said I must be very stressed to have so much going on. No, not stressed. The work is tiring, but not stressful. God's doing most of it; I only have to show up and be available for whatever He has in mind that day. I have only ever wanted to do God's work, and now He is asking me to do it.
As always, there is more, but that will suffice to let everyone know that all is well and that I am grateful for your concern and well-wishes. I will try not to be away for so long again, but meanwhile, as always, we can pray for one another!
